Abstract

The article attempts to assess the use of virtual reality technology in teaching foreign students of the Simyon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics in the language of academic and professional communication.
One of the main tasks of modern education is the search for innovative technologies that contribute to a new quality of the learning process: more productive and visual. Such prolific computer technology is virtual reality. Today, virtual reality technology in language education is at a rather low level, although it has certain advantages in comparison with traditional forms of education.
This paper analyzes the available domestic and foreign research on the topic, provides examples of the implementation of virtual reality in language education in various countries, provides an overview of virtual reality applications that can be used in language teaching classes, describes the advantages and disadvantages of this technology using the example of teaching foreign students. , the question of the expediency of using virtual reality in teaching the language of the specialty was considered. The possible course of the lesson in the discipline "Foreign language of academic and professional communication" with the use of the virtual reality helmet was modeled.
In conclusion, it is emphasized that for the active development of the professional communicative competence of foreign students, along with classical methods, it is necessary to use virtual reality tools that allow the student to immerse not only in the language, but also in the real professional environment, where it is possible to effectively practice existing knowledge, reproduce professional communication in a foreign language, master new material as quickly as possible, practice academic and professional terminology in speech.
The use of virtual reality technology serves to update educational motivation, a new format of relations between a student and a teacher, forms new competencies, and is a promising direction in language learning.
