Abstract

The article is devoted to the main aspects of the modern branch of Ukrainian linguistics – medialinguistics, the study of which includes the functioning of language in the media, the existence of national languages and interlanguage dialogues, the influence of media on language consciousness, principles of organization and informativeness of media texts in sociocultural dimension. In the age of digital society, the media space is the main source of information and sphere of influence, so the relevance of the media world language study is beyond doubt. An important reason for a deeper study of media linguistics is also the integrated nature of this discipline, which allows to use widely its potential in the educational process. The given investigation briefly describes the history of formation and development of the medialinguistic tradition in Ukraine. Remaining a fairly new field of linguistics, domestic media linguistics is represented by important scientific studies, among which a significant place belongs to the works of scientists of the Kyiv media linguists branch under the leadership of Professor Larysa Shevchenko. Analyzing the new linguistic direction as a separate branch, much attention is paid to the characteristics of the main provisions of this science. The definition of basic concepts is specified and the most actual questions of medialinguistic studies are allocated. The main part of the article reveals the possibilities of working with media text as a basic category and theoretical basis of media philology. In the process of studying language phenomena, the most effective and popular for young people are such genres as advertising, blogs, commentary, posts on social networks, information articles, presentation videos and other types of media products. Thus, at the present stage of language education, the media text is one of the most effective methods of developing critical thinking, creativity, communicative competence and media literacy of the younger generation.
