Abstract

In the article the author raises the problem of national and patriotic education of individuality in the pedagogical heritage of V. O. Sukhomlinsky. It is proved that the system of national-patriotic education is based on the ideas of strengthening Ukrainian statehood as a consolidating factor in the development of society, the formation of patriotism and the establishment of national values. The system of national-patriotic education needs a comprehensive organization – through the educational process and extracurricular activities, the creation of pedagogical conditions that ensure the formation of a new Ukrainian. According to V. O. Sukhomlinsky, the effectiveness of the process of nationalpatriotic education depends on the completeness of the implementation of all its components. The main components of national-patriotic education remain: civic-patriotic, military-patriotic, spiritual and moral, which ensure the formation of national and European values. Students’ self-government bodies play an important role in the formation of personality. It is in the team that the child self-realizes, self-determines, self-improvement, so to develop social activity of students, to cultivate a sense of self-worth, to provide an opportunity to express themselves as individuals – the main task of school self-government. At the present stage there is a need to improve the pedagogical culture of parents on national-patriotic education (discuss issues of national, civic, patriotic, moral, spiritual, family education at parent meetings, involving parents in planning and conducting extracurricular activities of national-patriotic orientation). In the process of scientific research it was found out that the ideas of V. O. Sukhomlinsky, scientific and methodological developments, practical experience are now embodied in the educational systems of European countries, Japan, China, USA. The main components of the NUS Concept closely resonate with the pedagogical heritage of V. O. Sukhomlynsky: a new content of education, based on the formation of competencies necessary for successful self-realization in society; focus on the needs of the student in the educational process, child-centeredness; a cross-cutting process of education that shapes values; pedagogy based on a partnership between student, teacher and parents and the community. Today, Sukhomlynsky’s ideas are an integral part of the modern educational process of the Ukrainian school.
