Abstract

We analyzed a new approach to understanding personalized learning and drew attention to the key element necessary for the implementation of this learning model in life - habits of mind. The article is devoted to describing how the fusion of these two components creates the basis for learning spaces in which students thoughtfully solve problems and invent their own ideas. A personalized learning model involves students in the design and development of tasks in which they participate. Engagement is not measured by how quickly a student learns the learning material; it depends on how relevant, interesting and worthy he finds it. The article examines the task of the teacher - to work with students, sharpen their skills and transfer knowledge, help to confirm their knowledge and skills in real, difficult and problematic endeavors. Personalized learning through mind skills promotes a holistic approach to learning. Thus, personalized learning is the organizational structure that pedagogy needs today: a structure that requires students to use explicit thinking reflected in habits of mind. Moving in this direction requires teachers and students to think differently and undertake a new learning process. A thoughtful teacher-designed curriculum ensures that there is a consistent set of goals and grades that each student will receive. Personalized learning means that students take ownership of it by co-creating their assignments, projects and assessments. This promotes self-management and shows the intention to continue working to achieve the desired performance. Personalized learning is an umbrella term for many practices, each of which is designed to accelerate learning by adapting it to the needs and skills of individuals in the process of fulfilling curriculum requirements. The realm of personalized learning (as it is currently understood) should expand, allowing students to explore and develop their own passions and interests. Personalized learning is a student-centered model of education that allows students to pursue goals, explore problems, find solutions, be curious, and create ideas. There are four defining characteristics of personalized learning, each of which can be used as a filter to examine existing classroom practices or create new ones. This is motivation, joint creation, social construction and self-discovery.
