EU REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS IN THE CONTENT OF CHEMICAL DISCIPLINES OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF FUTURE SPECIALISTS

Abstract

The article deals with the current issues of reforming the specialists’ professional education in chemical and related professions, considering the implementation of the main strategies of the European Union into the content of professional training: Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability Towards a Toxic-Free Environment (2020), The European Green Deal (2019); regulations and standards of the EU regarding the circulation of chemical substances and the Law of Ukraine "On ensuring chemical safety and management of chemical products". The article attempts to describe a need for the culture formation of working with chemicals at the level of specialists’ professional activity in various fields in detail, who use chemical knowledge and skills as professional and basic competencies. In this paper the legal regulation of the circulation of chemical substances in Ukraine and the tasks that the state sets before educational institutions, both general and higher in the near future are considered, regarding the formation of a responsible attitude to chemicals and their use by everyone. The main regulatory documents of the EU are specified which are fundamental for the content of specialists’ professional training in chemical and related professions. The culture formation of working with chemical substances is defined as one of the main areas of implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, and the European Atomic Energy Community. The article analyses the state of the problem study in the EU, the needs and factors of modernization of the content of chemists’ and specialists’ professional training in related professions, and the importance of effective training in chemical professions for the formation of Ukraine's investment potential for post-war rebuilding. The article presents results of a higher education students’ survey regarding the desires, needs and motives for studying EU Regulations and Standards in the course of mastering chemical disciplines. The study highlights the main prospects for the further modernization of the chemists’ professional education in Ukraine.
