POTENTIAL OF THE FOLKLORE IN UKRAINIAN STUDIES: HIGH SCHOOL STUDY

Abstract

The article substantiates the need for a new approach to the study of folklore in the system of Ukrainian studies. Taking into account the vectors of development of the modern educational environment (globalization, fundamentalization and humanization of education, the emergence of which marked the beginning of the XXI century), the intellectual potential of folklore is determined, its role in the system of Ukrainian studies is clarified. It is noted that insufficient attention has been paid to the study of folklore in Ukrainian studies. It is considered mainly as an aesthetic and cultural heritage, and therefore the study of folklore as a source of knowledge of the historical, mental development of the ethnos, requires additional attention. In addition, the globalization of scientific information in the modern world contributes to the expansion of the concept of "folklore". It is studied as a complex phenomenon that unites the whole set of traditional folk culture: text, musical accompaniment, choreography, drama. This approach significantly expands the possibilities of studying the folklore text, deepens the scientific results. The study notes the need for reorientation in the study of folklore. It is a matter of shifting the emphasis to its origin, which is in accordance with the ideas of the cultural-historical school of folklore, initiated by M. Kostomarov. A supporter of this concept of studying folklore is a modern scientist, folklorist V. Davydyuk. In "Selected Lectures on Ukrainian Folklore" the researcher presents the author's vision of Ukrainian folklore in cultural genesis and development of its phenomena, actively uses knowledge of archeology and ethnography to explain the content of origin and development of basic motifs, images, synchronizes them with relevant eras, trends. The application of such methods of studying folklore through its origin significantly deepens students' understanding of the folklore text as a historical source, its content and role in the system of forming thpeople's worldview, the mentality of the ethnos. Thus, it promotes the research of Ukrainian studies, helps to implement tasks related to the peculiarities of the formation and development of the Ukrainian ethnic group. At the same time, it provides the formation of a national personality, professionally competent, culturally erudite teacher, researcher and future citizen with an active state position.
